Procedures evaluated include coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic valve replacement, and mitral valve repairs and replacements. The Society’s rating system, established in 1989, relies on voluntarily reported data from hospitals across the nation, underscoring the importance of transparency and quality measurement in cardiac care.
