Irish comedian Jarlath Regan has revealed he will donate a kidney to save his brother's life.
The funnyman said there was no discussion at all when the question was asked.
Jarrus and his brother are due to have the surgery in the New Year.
He said: “My brother needs a kidney transplant and they asked me to come and test him to see if he would be a match.
“They found out I was a good match and the surgery is now underway, so the operation will take place in the new year to try and save his life.”
Jalas explained that while other families were fighting for organ donations, he made sure to save his brother's life.
He added: “It's debatable, but I have children and a wife and I need to provide for them.”
“My job requires me to work all year round and he was very attentive to those things.
“Families often come into conflict over organ donation.
“The crazy thing is, you only need one kidney, but there are a lot of people walking around with two kidneys.
“And then there are people dying in hospitals wanting a kidney.
“In our case, there was no debate. Of course I'm going to save my brother's life.”
And Jarrus joked that no one could doubt his good qualities.
He told RTE 2fm's Eoghan McDermott: “This is the ultimate good man thing to do.”
“From now on no one can say I'm selfish. I have medical evidence that I'm a decent person.”
“I'm willing to remove parts of my body to save the lives of others. To be honest, that's one of the reasons I decided to do it.”
“Because, like most Irish people, I’m always going around trying to convince people that I’m a good person.
“You don’t have to do that anymore.
“This means he'll never be able to pay me back, but that's not the point.
“This is to help him enjoy the rest of his life. Without this transplant he would be dead within five years, but this will extend his life by 20 or 30 years.”
