Alison Fogerty, a woman from Tipperary Town, is taking a 180km walk today to raise awareness of organ donation and raise funds for the Irish Kidney Association. Allison says she is overwhelmed and appreciates her goodwill and positivity in her efforts.
The public has been asked to consider donating to the Idonate page, which is close to 8,000 euros, to date for the Irish Kidney Association, to date – available at this link here. This will remain open until April 21stst.
Today, Allison traveled to Dublin by train to visit Beaumont Hospital, where she ended nine years of dialysis treatment due to a change in her kidney transplant a year ago. This walk is also a gesture of gratitude to the two who donated their kidneys to Allison over the course of a decade.
Cashel's walk finale begins with a roundabout on Golden Road and passes through town centre tonight around 5pm. To mark the world's kidney day, the cachel rocks are illuminated in purple. Allison is also updating her special Facebook page about her walks. My journey to Beaumont. ”
