A man from Ross Common in Young County remembered in a service honoring organ donors – News

The young Boyle man, who passed away at the age of 22, was remembered at the 39th Annual Service on Dublin and Thanksgiving.

An estimated 1,600 people across Ireland and later, hundreds of deceased donors and transplant recipients attended Whitehall Church, Dublin 9, for unique service.

Boyle's Irene and Sheamus Barry brought candles to the altar. Their son, Shane, was only 22 years old when he passed away more than 30 years ago, and has since taken part in the service of memory almost every year.

“The service is an important annual event on the calendar for many families of organ donors, with many of them being attended annually as a priority. An organizer spokesman said: Masu.

“It is an important opportunity to remember a dead, deceased loved one who has been given a gift of life to others. It is an organ donation Ireland, organ donor coordinator, transplant coordinator, and other medical care. We are grateful for the experts and other transplant recipients, their families, the wider organ donation and transplant community, thanking and respecting organ donors for their valuable gifts, I respect you. Life” added a spokesman.

Shane Barry, son of Sheamus and Boyle's Irene, became an organ donor when she died at the age of 22.

The opening procession saw fourth-generation firefighter Ger Dolan being stationed at the Anglesea Fire Station in Cork city from Claddagh in Galway, dressed in uniform. Gel donated his kidneys to his younger brother Jimmy in 2017, three months before his 18-year-old cousin Aura tragically passed away and her family selflessly donated organs that save four lives. Aura's mother (Gel's aunt) Dolores traveled through Mayo County from Cross and took part in the service by carrying books of honorary memory engraved with the names of Orla and other organ donors to the altar .

Following the service, the organ donor's family saw the names of the deceased donor's loved ones engraved in a book of memory.
