"superhero" Who Died In Claire's Accident "saves Five Lives" By

The mother of a boy who died in a crash in County Clare last weekend has said his organ donation will “save five lives”.

Dylan Cody Coleman, 10, was seriously injured when he was hit by a van in Purcell Park, Shannon, on Sunday.

He died in a Dublin hospital on Wednesday, just days after his mother Laura gave birth to his younger brother, Shane.

Dylan is the 36th person to have died on Ireland's roads since January 1, and the sixth pedestrian.

Laura posted on social media on Wednesday night to announce that Dylan would “save five lives tonight” by donating his organs.

Laura said Dylan came home from school about a month ago and said he had been talking about organ donation.

He told his parents, “If something were to happen to me, I would like to donate something.”

“This is not our fault, it's all his,” she said.

Since then, people have responded by claiming that Dylan is a “superhero.”

Education Minister Norma Foley also offered her condolences to Dylan's family and the Shannon community.

She said in a statement: “Dylan was a much-loved and valued member of the school community and he will be greatly missed by his classmates, faculty, staff, board and all who knew him.”

“At this sad and difficult time, the wellbeing of our students, staff and the whole school community is of utmost importance to the school.

“Psychologists from NEPS (National Educational Psychological Services) will be working with the school to provide whatever support is needed.”

Meanwhile a GoFundMe page set up by close friends of the family has raised more than €45,000 in three days.

The page reads: “Close friends of the family who knew and loved Dylan. [to] They have set up a GoFundMe where we can donate directly to them.

“Nothing can ease the pain of their loss right now, but we [a] The community may be able to [to] It will ease the financial burden.”
