A man who was attacked and killed on his way home has posthumously been found to have saved the lives of at least four people.
The family of Josip Strok, 31, a Croatian man who died in an attack in south Dublin last Wednesday, say he donated his organs and saved the lives of others.
Mr Strok, from Krapina in northern Croatia, was attacked on Saturday, March 30 as he and David Drujinec, 28, were walking from a bus to their home in Clondalkin. The friends were attacked by a gang and Mr Strok suffered serious head injuries.

However, his family said the other organs in his body were unaffected and his organs were donated after the decision was made to turn off his life support at Tallaght Hospital on April 3.
Police in Clondalkin are still investigating the attack and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Mr Druzinek then spoke about the attack, which happened in the Grange View Way area of Clondalkin on Saturday, March 30, just after 10pm.
That evening the friends met up to celebrate Easter together, had a meal and bought a few bottles of beer at the liquor store before returning to David's flat in Clondalkin.
David said they were both speaking Croatian as they left the liquor store.
“The gang hurled insults at us, shouting things like: 'You are speaking English, this is Ireland, it's not our home, you don't respect our country, this is Ireland…'” he told Croatia's Telegram newspaper.
David said he had not seen or heard the attack so it was unexpected.
“They first hit me with something. I don't know if it was a metal bar or a bat. I asked the police for details that I saw on the video. I've been told they have the video.”
“Long story short, I fell down when they started hitting Josip. After a while I managed to get up and tried to help him, but they started hitting me again – harder,” said David, adding that that's all he remembers.
