Irish all-rounder Simi Singh faces a “life-threatening health situation” after reportedly suffering from acute liver failure and requiring a transplant.

Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Dutrom confirmed the situation, saying it was “devastating” to learn that 37-year-old Singh was seriously ill. I will offer my prayers.” .

Singh had been ill for some time in Ireland, but returned to his native India for treatment earlier this summer.

The Times of India reported that Singh is awaiting a transplant at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, and his wife Agamdeep will donate part of his liver.

The cricketer's father-in-law, Parvinder Singh, told the Times of India: “The transplant is likely to take place soon and doctors are confident that the results will be favorable to Simi and give her a new lease of life. “There is,” he said.

Dutrom described Singh as “a central figure in Irish cricket, whether at international, local or club level”.

“He has shown a drive and desire to succeed,” Dutrom added.

“We now hope that with the same effort he can overcome his current situation. Stay strong, Simi, we are all rooting for you.”

Singh played 35 one-day internationals and 53 T20 matches for Ireland, appearing in the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup tournaments.
