Over 150 people were taken to the streets of the mobile earlier today to raise funds for the Irish Liver Foundation.
Claire McLaughlin was inspired to set up events and fundraisers for the charity after using the service.
She was diagnosed in 2005 with a rare condition called Wilson's disease. This can cause copper accumulation in organs over time.
Claire had severe liver problems in 2019 and needed a transplant. Fortunately, I had to wait a month before the proper donor liver was discovered.
She once again encountered liver problems in 2023 and once again needed the foundation's support when she needed a weekly trip to Dublin for treatment.
“The costs to families in these situations are a lot, and after seeing firsthand what it needs, I want to do something to raise money for the Irish Liver Foundation to continue the great work they do,” Claire said, adding that he had launched a fundraiser.
And she raised the funds she did as the Milford local community turned out to be a fun 5K run and walk today.
According to organizers, today's donation is over 3,800 euros.
Additional donations to their fundraisers can be made online via GoFundMe.
