'Saving Lives in Leeds shines a light on the brilliant people who work at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and carry out amazing world-leading surgery. This piece highlights the work they do to keep us safe. We highlight some of the difficult decisions we make every day.Ensuring patients receive the best possible care is the complexity behind the decisions we make when managing waiting lists. This was a very positive opportunity to explain and emphasize that we always put the best interests of our patients first.”

Statement from Anthony Clarkson, Director of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation

“The gift of donation is the ultimate legacy a person can leave behind after death, and it can save and change the lives of many people, not only the patients whose lives were saved or changed, but also the lives of their families. This allows patients and their families to touch, hug, and hold hands again, and to be independent and complete practical tasks that are often taken for granted. You will be able to do it.”

“We are extremely proud of all of the team members who helped make these transplants possible, but most of all, their generosity during the most difficult of times made these transplants life-changing. We are grateful to our wonderful donors and their families.'' Transplants are possible. ”

Although laws regarding organ donation have changed in England, Scotland and Wales, families are always consulted before an organ donation takes place.
