Women become the longest survivor after pig organ transplantation

Associated Press Reporter

Alabama woman passed a major milestone on Saturday and became the longest living recipient of a pig organ transplant – healthy and energy-filled with 61 days and counting new kidneys.

“I'm a superwoman,” 53-year-old Towana Rooney told The Associated Press, continuing to recover, laughing about overtaking her family on long walks around New York City. “That's a new view of life.”
