After her son was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, the young Co Donegal family sued for help.

Zach McLosan, a 4-year-old from St. Johnston, recently began showing signs of fatigue that made his family worried.

After many tests and bone marrow biopsy, Zack is currently diagnosed with a rare blood disorder.

His only chance is a bone marrow transplant that is not available in Ireland.

He is currently referred to Princess Maxima Oncology Centre in Utrecht, Netherlands, and is expected to be hospitalized for at least three months.

This is the latest challenge facing the McCrossan family.

In February, Zach's mother, Patrice (Née Rodgers), discovered that she had acute myeloid leukemia.

The 32-year-old was rushed to Galway Hospital for treatment a few days later, then transferred to St. James, Dublin for a bone marrow transplant.

Unfortunately, the transplant has not been as successful as his family wanted, and Patrice is currently travelling regularly to Dublin for DLI therapy and is still undergoing chemotherapy treatment to keep the illness at bay.

Since the news broke, the community has shown an incredible overflow of support for Patrice, her husband Gary, and her four children, ages 7 months to 9.

But now the couple is forced to turn their attention to help their little boy Zach.

Dad Gary said that news of Zack's illness hit them hard, but they are doing their best to stay strong.

He said, “It's devastating to think that our family is split up again. We try our best to keep it strong, but the emotional and financial sacrifices are enormous.

“Patrice needs to continue her treatment at home for Zack and the other children, Casey, Holly and Little Tilly.

“We humbly ask for help in helping us bring our families to the Netherlands so we can be with Zack during these incredibly difficult times.

“Whether it's a small donation or a share, whether it's just keeping us in your mind – it all means the world. I'm grateful for it from the bottom of my heart,” he said.
