The 11-year-old boy is currently spending the majority of his time in Crumlin Hospital receiving intensive treatment.

He is scheduled to undergo a bone marrow transplant within the next few weeks.

If all goes to plan, his recovery after the intense treatment could take up to a year, and his parents plan to homeschool him once he's recovered enough.

Dare will not be able to return to school for the remainder of the school year due to lack of energy and potential risk of infection.

As well as playing football for Kill Celtic, he also plays Gaelic football and hurling for three Sullins GAA teams and is a big part of both the Kill and Sullins communities.

Kill Celtic were devastated to hear of Dyer's death, but are “very confident that he will overcome his battle with leukemia”.
