A suitable bone marrow donor has been found for a Newry teenager who was diagnosed with blood cancer earlier this year.
Daniel Greer, 14, was diagnosed with leukemia in June after complaining of back and neck pain.
Due to the rapid and aggressive spread of the disease, an emergency “Let’s Do It for Daniel” campaign was launched to save his life.
“Great news,” the announcement was announced in a tweet on Tuesday.
“We have found a suitable donor for our Daniel.
“Thank you everyone,” he added.
The campaign encourages the public to join a stem cell donor registry in the hope of paving the way to a transplant.
The mystery donor came forward several weeks ago but was required to complete a series of laboratory tests.
Daniel is scheduled to go to England next week for surgery.
